Our family's label, BUDDHA’S
CUP Kona Coffee, made it's debut in November 2004 at the Kona Gevalia
Cupping Contest. And 2004 was a fruitful harvest placing us as one of
the top15 finalists! There are 650 independent coffee farms in a small
area 22 miles long by 2 miles wide. Over 100 of these farms have their
own label and only 77 farms entered the Cupping Contest last year. For
Buddha’s Cup to place it’s first year out
demonstrates the quality of our coffee. With over 30 rotations, picking
from late August thru early February, we take great pride in assuring
our consumer that the 'cherries' are picked at just the right time. Our
beans are roasted in small batches every two weeks to insure the very
freshest cup of Kona Coffee!
We are proud members of the Kona Coffee Council Estate Program, www.kona-coffee-council.com with Over 60 Estate members. Like the fine wine growing region of Sonoma,California, we feel blessed to be one of the “Estate Grown” members in this fine coffee growing region of Kona, Hawaii.
The inspiration behind Buddha's Cup is
based around the birth of my son, Justin. When he was born the nurse
held high my 11 ½ pound bundle of joy and said one word:
"BUDDHA"!! Ever since, he has been my "BUDDHA BABY" and even now at 15
years of age, my constant source of JOY! After acquiring our coffee
farm in Holualoa, we felt blessed to find a refuge on 50 acres of Ohia
forest in a pristine natural setting at 2200 ft. above Kona. So, it
seemed only natural to call it "BUDDHA’S SANCTUARY".
The Happy Buddha on the label is a reminder that in every human heart there is the potential to be enlightened. The unique land and the quality it provides, is the spirit we share with you.
